Static: set at production and unchanged (e.g. composition). Dynamic: they change during the product's life (e.g. repairs, state of health, owners).
Possible answers
You answer for each product category you chose.
- Static
Data fixed at production that never changes.
E.g. composition, country of origin.- Dynamic
Data that changes during the product's life.
E.g. repairs carried out, state of health, owner.- Both
Some data is static, some changes over time.
E.g. fixed composition and repair history.
Guidance
EV, LMT and industrial batteries: the passport has a static part (composition, carbon footprint) and a dynamic one, such as state of health, to be updated during the battery's life (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 14 and Annex XIII).
Electronics: specifications and composition are static; repairs, replaced parts and software updates make part of the data dynamic.
Commercial vehicle tyres: with retreading some data changes during the tyre's life.
For this category data is usually static, set at production. Choose Both if you want to record repairs, resales or other later events.
Legal references
- Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (ESPR): the passport must remain accessible and up to date for its expected lifetime; the delegated act sets who may update which data (e.g. repairers, remanufacturers).
- Batteries: Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 (Batteries), Annex XIII: some passport information is dynamic (e.g. state of health) and must be updated during the battery's life.
