Question 15 of 21 · Identification

Where will the data carrier be applied?

The position affects production, packaging and labels.

Possible answers

On the product

The code is printed, engraved or affixed on the product itself: the option ESPR prefers.
E.g. laser-engraved QR on a profile, label sewn into a garment.

On the packaging

The code is on the packaging, where it cannot go on the product.
E.g. QR on the box of a small appliance.

On the documentation

The code is in the documents accompanying the product.
E.g. QR on the delivery note or in the manual.

I don't know

Legal references

  • Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (ESPR): the data carrier may be placed on the product, its packaging or accompanying documentation; the product group's delegated act says where.
  • Batteries: Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 (Batteries), Article 13: the QR code must be printed or engraved on the battery (or, where not possible, on the packaging and documents).
